Set four pair of hooks and eyes even with the top four loops. I place the hook on the right side of the coat. The hook is placed so that it barely protrudes past the folded edge of the lappel. The eye is placed the same way. The goal is to have the folded edge of the lappels butt together without a gap when the coat is hooked. Note that the hooks and eyes are sewn to the coat itself, not the lining. The lining will end up covering most of the hooks and eyes.
