I like to start with the smaller pieces, to get a feel of working with the fabric.
To make the collar, take the two Upper Collar pieces and place them right side together, carefully lining up the edges. The seam allowance here is 1/4 inch. Do the same for the Under Collar pieces. Press the seams open. you will need to trim a little triangle of cloth at the seam. Place the Upper Collar and Under Collar together with the seams against each other. Pin it together then topstitch it around the sides and top, but stop a half inch short of the ends. This will give you room to work when you are stitching it to the coat body.
